What does ANGEL have to do with the Pathways Program?
Each Pathways theme book has a Daily Lesson Guide (DLG) that is required accompany it.
In the back of each DLG is a bibliography of books that can be used in correlation with the Theme Books.
ANGEL has agreed to purchase books listed in the bibliography and pass their discount advantages along to the schools. ANGEL can get an average of 40% off retail prices on selected titles from our primary publishing warehouse.
ANGEL will then catalog and process the books for the school just like their library books. This helps keep inventory controlled.
The 2010-2011 school year is the last year to order Pathways materials through ANGEL. The last Pathways orders will be taken on June 30, 2011, no later.
Southern Union Stipulations:
The bibliography listed in the back of each Daily Lesson Guide (DLG) contains the list of books for student self-selected reading, or student independent reading. Up to fifty percent (50%) of ANGEL funds can be used to purchase only the books listed in the bibliography located in the back of each DLG. The per pupil ANGEL expenditure is $36.00 per year for the elementary schools (Southern Union Schools). Of that $36.00, 40% ($14.40) goes to overhead (cataloging, processing, etc.); 60% ($21.60) of the $36.00 goes to books. Out of that $21.60, 50% (up to $10.80) can go to buy Pathways books, and 50% ($10.80) can go to pay for other books.
We encourage schools to purchase all books listed in the bibliography through ANGEL for inventory control purposes. Prepayment is requiredfor ordering additional books listed in the bibliography beyond the allotted ANGEL per pupil expenditure. Books ordered beyond the allotted pupil expenditure can be purchased at the regular price. ANGEL will catalog and maintain an inventory list of all books purchased.
ANGEL funds cannot be used to purchase the Theme Books. As noted below, one copy of the guided reading/leveled readers per school can be purchased with ANGEL funds for the Library. Additional classroom copies of the leveled readers and any Theme Books can be ordered and prepaid for through ANGEL using your schools curriculum/textbook funds.
Pathways Theme Booklist Books & Self Selected/Independent/Supplemental Reading Book Lists:
Please note that the books labeled with "TB" are Theme Booklist Books that are required to support the themes. The rest are optional self-selected/independent/supplemental reading books. Books are listed alphabetically by title.***Discounted prices are not guaranteed since publishers can change the prices without ANGEL being notified.***
Remember, these books must be prepaid for with your schools curriculum/textbook funds.***Effective June 1, 2009 - Any items purchased through ANGEL for a school must be cataloged.***
If you need to change your Theme Book order, let ANGEL know ASAP. Once an invoice is sent you are expected to pay. If you cancel or change an order (by reducing the quantities) there will be an “un-processing fee.” To find out more about the un-processing fee, please contact ANGEL directly.
Process for ordering Pathways Theme Books through ANGEL:
Email or fax your order to the ANGEL Manager
ANGEL will order the books requested and send an estimate via email. Estimate will include shipping charges.
Once the books come in to ANGEL, they will be packed for shipping and an invoice will be mailed to the school
As soon as the payment is received by ANGEL, the books will be shipped to the school. We cannot ship the books to the school until we receive the payment. Please keep this in mind and plan ahead if you need the books by a certain date.
Pathways Theme Bibliographies:
These lists are taken directly from the NAD Pathways Website (http://pathways.nadeducation.org/). DO NOT ORDER FROM THESE LISTS. There may be books on these lists that ANGEL cannot purchase. Request books from either the "Pathways Theme Booklist Books & Self Selected/Independent/Supplemental Reading Book Lists" or the "Pathways Theme Books List" (see above). These lists are for reference only.
