Books are listed alphabetically by title. ***Discounted prices are not guaranteed since publishers can change the prices without ANGEL being notified.***
Title SelectionTeachers may
request specific titles or subject areas to meet curriculum needs, or
they may rely on the ANGEL librarian to select titles for them. Special
requests can be in addition to the recommendation lists, or they can be
in replace of the recommendation lists.
Requesting We give first priority to the schools who register online. We begin ordering those requests on July 1st of each school year. If your school does not register online before the deadline (June 30), we will not begin ordering for your school until January. You’ll still receive your book requests, they just won’t start arriving until after the new year. For this reason we strongly suggest that your school requests the items it wants for the beginning of the school year during online registration. One exception is that all of the schools get some of the newest ABC books in October/November regardless of their specific book requests. Once online registration is closed, you can mail, fax, or email your book or DVD requests to the ANGEL Manager. Title and author are required. Please include the ISBN (10 or 13 digit) if you can. Please have all special requests (for the current school year) in to ANGEL by March 30th.
Returns You
may feel that a book provided by ANGEL is inappropriate to your
collection, or you may already have a copy of that book. Your budget
will be credited with the value of that book. There are some
restrictions on returns. If you have requested a book, which means we
have special ordered that book for you, it may not be returned for
credit. Also, no credit can be given on books purchased in the previous
fiscal year.
Explanation of the Forms
Forms
Enrollment Form - Non-Southern Union Schools are enrolled on a year-by-year basis. If we don't receive this form back by September 1, we assume that the school is no longer on ANGEL.
This is the only form that must be returned. This is regardless of book requests
Contact Person section
This
section requires the schools to let us know who is going to be our
contact person for that school year. We understand that things change.
This form keeps us up-to-date with whom we will be communicating and
the best ways to contact them. We are now requiring that every contact
person give us an email address. With the way technology is moving,
this is a necessity.
The optional Additional Information
section on this form is for additional contact person(s) information
only. i.e. the Principal, other teachers, multiple email addresses, etc.
Projected Enrollment section
This
section gives us a head start on ordering books for the school year
during the summer. We know that the schools can’t give us exact
enrollment figures until school actually starts, but they can usually
give us a projected figure.
Book Request by Category
This form is for identifying categories for which your school needs more materials.
i.e., religion, social science, literature, etc.
Best of… and Multicultural Themes recommendation lists
The School Library Journal and Booklist have
reviewed books published in the past year and listed the titles they
deemed best. ANGEL previewed these books and compiled a list with
author, title, grade level, short synopsis and retail price for each
book.
Book Request Form
This is a blank form to write in your requests that are not listed on our recommended lists
The forms must be returned to ANGEL by September 1
If you have book requests during the school year that you did not return to ANGEL with the Enrollment Form, simply email the office manager with the title, author, and ISBN where possible.
*Non-Southern Union Schools must prepay for their books each year.
Guidelines of Selection Criteria
The
guidelines or selection criteria will give you an idea of the factors
we take into consideration in selecting books. ANGEL previews all the
books sent to us by various publishers.
